Indian Summer
Jessica Wagner
{Pin} Stripes
Whew! This heat has me reaching for light and gauzy fabrics.
This time of year, vertical pin stripes feel like the perfect transitional look for late summer/autumn.
This off-the-shoulder dress has been a favorite date night option all summer. I’ve worn it to out to drinks in Chicago, power-shopping, to an outdoor arena comedy show, and during a romantic night celebrating our anniversary.
Can you tell I have a thing for it? ; ) You may have also picked up on my fixation with black and white stripes lately. {Always.} (As recently seen here, here and this favorite version here.)
Plus, the ruffle sleeve detail is still going strong in the world of fashion.
I prefer a midi style length, and this dress is comfortable, figure flattering, and easy to accessorize.
I love when I receive compliments on a look, (who doesn't?!) ;) I actually got stopped 4 times while wearing this dress! Girls were asking where it was from, so I knew it needed to be featured.
I picked up this babe in Ann Arbor at an undeniably bold, and rebelliously sexy boutique called Verbena. They have a great “LA-cool-girl-vibe” about them and I literally wanted to get one of everything in their shop. If you are in the area, I highly recommend stopping in if you’re looking to add a few edgier pieces to you closet.
As the seasons change, switching out your closet can be a hassle, where options like this dress, make the transition a little less daunting.
Take a simple midi dress like this one, into cooler weather with a denim jacket and tall boots. A belt would also add some interest. You know I love a good hat – so try a felt style in a deep rich shade or even a slouchy beanie would work to give off that bohemian jet-set spirit.
Shooting in Cleveland on a hot day, I went with my stand-by statement hat and simple double-strap black sandals, which are the best for walking around in. I know, I know… these shade have been on repeat, but I am in love with their 60s mod feel. White shades add a bright pop that I just adore.
If you are not yet ready to say goodbye to easy, flowy dresses, this pin stripe one is for you!
