Maxi skirts are a classic wardrobe piece that can be relaxed or curve hugging. While floor length skirts might conjure images of spinning circles at a grand ball, this item need not be reserved for formal occasions.

When I spotted this drapey nautical blue and white striped dream I immediately fell in love with its French Riviera romantic charm. A great summer/ vacation piece for any wardrobe. Imagine fashionable afternoon spent collecting seashells, picnicking by the shore.
I was originally trying to create a ‘Gwyneth Paltrow circa The Talented Mr. Ripley’ feel to this look, but ended up somewhere between elegant and vintage Sailor Jerry seaside leaping enchantress. I couldn’t stop swishing its full parachute of fabric from side to side. Crisp and airy, this look is perfect for an exotic destination with cocktails and dancing at sunset. It’s really THE look for a seaside soiree.
Maxi skirts come in all colors, fabrics and prints. Find one that suits you and your occasion. This style can be streamlined or flouncy and bohemian. No matter what your height, you can wear this look; it just takes choosing the right material for you and matching it with the proper top. I prefer them breezy with a high-banded waist for a flattering silhouette. If you like to skip around, the more flowy layers the better.
The stripes in this maxi keep it informal, as sometimes floor length can feel stuffy. Long skirts are a great holiday beach look, and are super cute with a button-down knotted at the hips. You can dress it up with heels and a lace top, or dress it down with sandals and a simple solid tee.
Toss on your favorite maxi and feel yourself transform water-siren as you find your way down to the blue to sway, whirl, frolic, leap, dart, and flit where the sun meets the sea.
