Fall In Love With Relaxed & Happy Bohemian Style

Once in awhile you discover something that feels like home. Call it a vibe, call it a tribe. Call it bohemian meets shabby chic! I think I have found a new tribe. Or at least the vibe I wish I evoke.

Lately I have been majorly inspired by the brand - LoveShackFancy. It’s like Cher from Clueless meets Little House on the Prairie. When you discover a dreamy free-spirit world of inspiration, you cannot keep it to yourself! It makes me want to reinvent myself. (Or at least reinvent my wardrobe.) My love for the renaissance woman is strong and l am on a mission to emulate this relaxed and happy harmony when putting together outfits.

It's is an eclectic style for sure. Probably not a look you will rock on your average day of work/running errands. While I am a proprietor of eclecticism, I also get that it's not in the books for everyday. I am also a creature of comfort (believe it or not.) I like clothing that feels relaxed and “freeing.” So, while I get that a bit of practicality is handy, I also feel most comfortable in something that probably isn’t your average daywear. It lifts my mood. It makes me happy! Sometimes I need to believe I am beautiful, wild and free. Sometimes that means putting on an oversize hat, ruffles, and spinning in a field of gold.

I believe there is no reason you can't add a pretty ribbon around your wrist, glittery heels, pink to your hair, or a statement-maker to ANY outfit. It adds intrigue. You are intriguing! Jeans and a tee aren’t always intriguing, as much as I like to rock denim and cotton, I'm one of those people that also like to mix and match. Think antique mixed with modern pieces. I do the same with my house and closet. I love pale, rosey sunset colors. Lace and feminine florals. Old and new. Victorian corsets and satin ribbon paired with moto-boots and mini skirts.

Shabby chic, often referred to as country chic or vintage chic, is a look that reminds me of warm golden days. If you also love this soft and dreamy style, you're in luck, because shabby chic designs and vintage are easy and inexpensive to achieve!

When shopping at vintage shops or modern retailers looks for elements of lace, ruffles, and floral. LOTS OF FORAL. It’s very feminine. While a style sometimes depends the cut, I think you can create a bohemian twist with your accessories and styling. In some ways it’s more about your own outlook and imagination when looking for the right pieces.

Fashion editor Rebecca Hessel Cohen, launched LoveShackFancy with the dream of designing the perfect, laid-back bridesmaid dress. Her original hand-dyed and printed silk dresses have since expanded into a collection of gowns, day-to-night dresses, and separates. As the brand continues to grow,  LoveShackFancy stays true to her original vision of "dancing barefoot in the garden under themoonlit summer night."

I'm pretty sure I want to always be prepared for dancing barefoot in a garden at a moment’s notice. I’m also aware that I live in Ohio and not the tropics! (So maybe we just need to be prepared to dance in the wheat field in a few 100 additional layers!)

I love second-hand and anything up-cycled. Some days I like to dress edgy and dramatic. Others like a California tomboy surf-babe. I like glam and sexy for nights out. Most days I am a cross between a nerdy librarian grandma and Maria from The Sound of Music. It’s hard for me to narrow it down to just one style, when I get so much joy out of trying new things!

I've said this before, but growing up my sisters and I favorite pastime was playing dress up. Maybe it was a form of escape. Maybe it still is... creative outlets are rejuvenating and oh so necessary. I dress for my mood a lot of the time. I'm attracted to ribbons and bows and florals, and romantic layers. This LoveShackFancy skirt actually has teeny tiny gold coins attached to the embroidered edges, so it jingles when you move, like little gypsy bells! Why I melt at this fact, is beyond me - but I cannot help but adore those little details. Like, to my core. This top is from local shop and favorite Ragazza, my hat is from Zara and my basket is from Free People.

I have been in a bit of a creative rut lately - feeling run down and uninspired. Maybe it’s the change of seasons? Trying to prioritize and make time for the creative side leave me with early mornings or late at night…. but it cannot be forced. I am hoping to get back to sharing more of my everyday style on this platform, and hopefully inspire you to change up your normal - even if it’s just with a fun new skirt or hitting up a vintage shop and walking out with something that feels exciting to wear! I want to encourage you to find what makes your heart sing.

Maybe it’s taking pictures with your soulmate on the side of the road at sunset. Maybe it’s slowly rebuilding your wardrobe to reflect quality over quantity. Looking for special details vs. impulse buys. Maybe it’s taking time to dream a little. Maybe it’s trying something new - rock climbing or cake decorating! Maybe it’s as simple as listening to that voice inside you - and building upon it… whatever it is for you follow your dreams. <3 <3 <3
