Festival Florals

Festival to Street
This past weekend celebrities, artists and fashion mavens alike flocked to LA’s (Indio, CA) desert for one of the year’s biggest musical festivals. When it comes to Coachella, you better bring your A-game.
Festival style is on a level of it’s own. It wouldn’t be Coachella without some of the ostentatious and predictable concert going staples: vintage rock band tees, oversized shades, and breezy boho shapes. While it’s enthralling to be an ethereal flower child, extreme bohème works best at the exclusive poolside parties and rocking out to your favorite song on the lawn. The three-foot long feather headdress and itty-bitty cut off shorts are best kept within the realm of festival oasis. You don’t want to end up a theatrical satire of yourself.
Coming from a free spirit at heart, I have to admit, this is my scene. I wish I could rock festival it-girl ALL DAY SON. Effortlessly cool. Borderline eccentric. A little peacocky (as some festival-goers go.) Fortunately, there are multiple ways to merge festival inspiration with everyday wear. A little western, a little hippie, a little indie folk can bring an entire outfit alive.
I’m all about the romantic maxi situation. It works for almost every occasion in the warm summer months. I styled mine for an oceanside date night and mixed in a few trending festival faves. Exhibit A: the choker, oversized mirror frames, and lace up gladiator sandals. It took honest effort not to bust out my tambourine, but like I said, it’s about editing down to taste. This boho-flora combination would have felt insincere had we been dining at a conservative location. Low key enough to not feel like a festival cliché.
This floral floaty number has an open back, and slits up both legs. (No room for self-consciousness, a sun-kissed glow definitely helped!) Messy hair and polished lips gaves a classy edge to the gypsy soul.
Now, to quickly highlight of some pieces that emerged as fore runners in the fast fashion game this festival season: -chokers -bandanas (spotted around necks, ankles and bags ) -anything off-the-shoulder -ankle boots- flash tattoos/ bohemian body art -lace bras -crochet -fringe and -suede. A major nod to the 90s. Summer inspiration for that happy, carefree look we all love.
Next night out, outdoor concert, or beach trip, play around with one or two festival statements. Knot your favorite rock-band-tee, layer up the metallic jewels, and show up flaunting your sheer lace top - unabashed.
