Overalls

The chicest way to style overalls for spring
Yes, overalls are cool again. I kind of love that I also frolicked around in these when I was ten.
I own a wide-leg pair of vintage overalls that I’ve worn the last couple years before they became trendy again, which has always earned a sideway glace from my husband.
Are you planning on painting the house?
NO! Maybe…
So yeah, I have to admit, overalls are associated with a laid-back look for sure. But you can take this denim style from OshKosh cute to grown-up chic with some smart styling.
Meet your starter overalls. I added this pair to my closet last week and wanted to share. I’ve been in love with the idea of overalls for years, but when it came to finding a pair that fit, it was easier said than done. This distressed pair is tight at the waist with a skinny rolled up ankle, creating a flattering silhouette. Finding a pair of denim overalls that fit well is the key to pulling off this look, so don't let a good pair pass you by. You want them to feel tailor-made. To offset this relaxed boyish look, I paired mine with a feminine crop top and heels.
There's an inherent no-fuss, cool-girl quality to this look that makes getting dressed a snap.
Overalls are a tried and true style that have the renaissance of summer. Never underestimate the emotive power of a good pair of dungarees! The most playful of garments, there’s something nostalgic about sliding into this all-in-one piece that makes you want to go climb trees.
If you’re feeling apprehensive about trying a trend like overalls, ease into the style by pairing a dark wash with comfy basics. A solid black or white tee and some sneaks for daytime wear, or a divey night out. Once you're ready to take it to the next level, swap out the casual slides for strappy minimal heels. The sleek shoe will balance out the distressed fit and make for one effortless look.
The modern take on this one-and-done becomes weekend-ready when paired with black ankle boots and a buttoned-to-the-top oxford shirt (think Olivia Palermo.) Or go grunge with one strap undone and a plaid shirt draped around your waist. Layer with stripes for a cool daytime style. Top off with a straw boater hat and ride out those hot days of summer like a kid again.
