Party Tights

Statement Stockings
The holidays are here and along with them the most festive of galas. I have number of Christmas celebrations to attend this season, (one of them being the Nutcracker Ballet -- I can’t wait!) all will be complete with my favorite leg wear – statement stockings.
Getting glammed-up is a part time hobby of mine! While I adore a good party dress I abhor being cold. The best way to keep warm in a twilrly dress is with an extra layer to protect your exposed limbs.
While tights can be practical they can also be styling accessory. I first introduced Berkshire tights (here.) Today, in collaboration with Lipton Publicity, I want to break down a few striking options for a wintery-wonderland look.
FISHNET
From street-style, to the runway, to Instagram, fishnets have gone from being “tights” to a full out "it" layering piece that's completely versatile. Not only have these stockings been worn under everything from skirts to jeans to shorts, but fishnets have found their way to becoming a defining trend of 2017 (as seen here, and in nude form here.)
Fishnets are a great way to add some texture with a subtle touch. You can elevate your fishnets with a bright color or stay black – creating an even more dramatic look with this print. Check out this post here for a sweet pair of thigh-highs that bring about the holiday magic!
Drawing inspiration from the Christmas classic "A Christmas Story" –a FRAGILE leg lamp– complete with a full skirt and a little fringe, (glow of electric sex!) just add an elegant stiletto heel and you’re Yuletide {and party} ready.
Bandana embroidery done locally by Jones & Co. She has an amazing selection of items and can embroider anything you bring her way! Would make such a cute Christmas gift!

SLIMMING
"Get Skinny" Microfiber Shaping Tights
Get skinny in some slimming opaque tights for a full coverage look that also offers support. These will allow room for seconds of dessert and also come in a microfiber for the real cold temps to help you stay warm and cozy.
These go perfect under any little black party dress. I love how Berkshire makes their tights super soft but they don’t sag or bunch up. It’s a smooth look - flattering under a skirt or even under cropped ankle slacks. You want your tights to fit properly, and Berkshire has options for every size and shape. This slimming style is seriously comfortable. Lets's be real, no one wants to be walking around like a penguin with their legs glued together, plus they breathe. (YAY!)
I found this pair easy to slide into. I even put mine on standing up, not horizontal on the bed! A good set of shape-wear tights will hit the right places and show off the contours of the leg. This is a great option for a natural and slender look, in any shade.

SHEER ANKLET
Another look I have been attempting to master is the heels + socks. It’s a little tricky to get just right, but I found a great way to experiment with this look is with sheer anklet socks.
You can see a sheer set of tights I styled with Hunter boots last winter here, and a dainty dot pair here, but what's fun abut these socks is their charm - a slight cuff and ruffled anklet make for a simple and sweet look.
I can not tell you how long I’ve wanted to pull-off this combo, but you know how it usually goes?Either you don’t have the right shoes, or you don’t have the right socks or it’s not the right time. Well, now the stars have finally aligned and I did it (or so I think!) Classic turned into an eccentric statement.
Try sheer socks with a pair of heels to avoid a blister, or add some protection to your feet. I played it rather safe with the simple black, but I have a drawer full of stockings that I envision charming combinations of sandals and socks. (Glitter! Stars! Tulle!) Perhaps this will be the year. Until then, if you are looking for a new way to style you socks or want to add a little style without a full tight, give it a try and be sure to share you looks with me!
