DYI Bath Bomb & Soap Making
Looking to have some good clean fun? I can’t recommend a visit to Buff City Soap enough!
My 6 year old daughter Coco and I signed up for a DIY bath bomb and soap making session. We love a good mommy-daughter date and this was a perfect fit for both of us - a chance to get creative, have some fun, make something exquisite, and stimulate ALL the senses!
When you walk in, you are met with the most delectable scents - from fresh and fruity to warm and soft. Buff City Soap carries a ton of products - way more than just soap. From bath fizzies and truffles, to scrubs and pup soap. They even make beard oil for the grizzly dudes! I left with their best selling “Good Morning Sunshine” laundry soap and have never been so excited to do the wash in my life. (Both the staff who helped us said it was their favorites scent!)
Bath Bomb Making
A bath bomb session is $25, soap making is $50. Each session is a 1/2 hour long and you leave with a 10+ bath bombs and multiple bars of soap depending on how thick you slice them! (We ended up with 8-10.) The soap needs a little more time to set, the bath bombs are ready to use immediately.
The hardest part was choosing from the 50 scents! They are all intoxicating! Coco went with “Sour Candy” and I did a custom combo of “Rose + Lavender.” I was worried one scent would overpower the other, but they fused beautifully and smell luxurious!
Once you have your scent, you pick your bath bomb color. We did pink and purple. The staff will assistant you in mixing your ingredients and then it’s time to mold! Coco loved this part - she kept calling them her little babies! Haha. With gloves on, you mold each bath bomb in a circular sphere. We made about 10 from our batch. Like building a sand castle - but with color and yummy smells! Then the best part! They have every shade of the rainbow to drizzle and decorate your creations. Glitter was a hard YES for both of us! We can’t wait to watch our next bath turn into a Buff Bath pastel swirling dream! Coco loved the entire process - said it was like magic!

SOAP MAKING
Next we moved onto soap making. Similar to bath bombs, you choose a scent but this time two colors! Coco was on the hunt for a “Chicken Nuggie” scent - I laugh / still not sure what the craze is but it’s her response to EVERYTHING. She chose a very sophisticated coffee sent “Expresso Yourself” {that’s my girl!} I went with a best seller - “All Hail The Queen.”
This process requires working with lye, so I did the mixing but Coco helped pour the soap into the molds and decorate. Swirling the soap as it sets into twirly swirly shapes is mesmerizing. Depending on your colors and scent, it can take a bit for the soap to harden before being ready to cut. We left ours overnight to pick up the next day.
Espresso Yourself: Smells like: Coffee & Go Time Notes of: Dark Roast Coffee, Sugarcane, Vanilla, & Chocolate
All Hail The Queen: Smells like: Citrus & Crown Notes of: Citrus, Bergamot, Sweet Orange, & Iris
