Fairytale Flora
Jessica Wagner
Long Sleeve Dress
Hi babes! Did everyone have a good week?!
If you can’t tell I have a penchant for anything floral or seemingly plucked from a countryside road. Wildflowers may conjure up images of spring, but I love the juxtaposition of ethereal blooms cascading down a dark, shadowy background for fall. It feels evocative, more dramatic. I can’t seem to resist! Fresh cuts are a must in this house, so its no wonder the obsession spills over into my wardrobe. (As seen here, here and here!)
I wore this navy Banana Republic dress while we were in Jekyll Island, Georgia prancing among a fairytale forest of hauntingly beautiful Spanish Moss. The storybook setting felt like the perfect backdrop (I kept waiting for little critters to start singing or gnomes to pop out of the trees and say hello!) Somehow floral always feels fresh and flirty. Those lucky belles of the South can wear a dress like this always, as for us up here in the Mid-west, we have an arsenal of tricks to bring our outfits now/later. I am planning on wearing this to Thanksgiving dinner, warming it up with thick knit tights and tall suede boots. (I’ll be sure to share a snap or two! Are you guys following me? <username: theweekenderfashion> on instagram and <username: weekendfashion> on snapchat, because I'm addicted! I love the "behind the scenes" thing, so I hardcore stalk all my favorite bloggers to see what a real day in the life looks like. It's sort of the best reality show ever.)
Anyways, I’m excited about this dress because the fit is super comfy (leaving plenty of room for heaps of turkey and mashies) and it's got that slight bohemian vibe I love. It ties at the neck, has a ruche waist and my favorite – fringe tassels! (I snagged mine on sale and sadly its no longer available.) Keeping with the ultra-femme feeling, I swept my hair back in a velvet bow, slipped on ballet flats, and grabbed my trusty dusty rose clutch. But do you want to know why I really love this dress? Because it’s stress-free. It’s a wear anytime-anywhere dress, airy and a little different with the long sleeves, which I find can be hard to come by. Long sleeved dresses are a great way to keep covered, without having to add on an additional layer.
So yes to fall florals, and if you aren’t sure, I find adding a denim jacket and bandana are still my favorite ways to elevate an outfit, as they give off that instat cool-girl vibe I am always so desperately trying to achieve!
Thanks for stopping by, hope you get to relax with family and enjoy the upcoming holiday! They are predicting possible snow flakes here today! So sun or snow - enjoy the glorious weekend friends!
